The Winter Railway Ultra
The Winter Railway Ultra is a multi-distance running event held on the disused railway line behind The Woodbridge Public House, Coalport, Telford, TF8 7JF. The route runs along the banks of the River Severn between Ironbridge and Bridgnorth and follows a former railway corridor that passes industrial heritage sites and river views.
Distances offered include:
- 9 miles
- 13.1 miles (Half Marathon)
- 19 miles (3/4 Marathon)
- 28 miles
- 37 miles
The course is arranged as out and back laps; each lap measures 9.4 miles. Aid stations are located approximately every 4.7 miles. A seven hour event cut off is applied.
Event headquarters are at the old railway line behind The Woodbridge Public House, TF8 7JF. Parking is available a short walk away at the Coalport China Museum and Coalport YHA; charges may apply. For accommodation and local facilities, four pubs are within about one mile of the start and the Coalport YHA is also nearby.
Entry fees are shown in a range from £28 to £42. The event is part of a pair, with a summer Railway Ultra held on a separate date the same year. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
