The Winter Railway Ultra

The Winter Railway Ultra is a multi distance running event set for 21 February 2026 on the banks of the River Severn between Ironbridge and Bridgnorth. The course follows a disused railway line and passes locations that reflect the area’s industrial heritage. Race HQ is on the old railway line behind The Woodbridge Public House, Coalport, Telford, TF8 7JF.

Distances offered include:

  • 9 Miles
  • Half Marathon
  • 19 Miles (3/4 Marathon)
  • 28 Miles
  • 37 Miles

The route is organised as out and back laps. Each lap measures 9.4 miles and there will be a well stocked aid station approximately every 4.7 miles. The event uses a 7 hour cut off for overall course completion. Parking is available a short walk from HQ at the Coalport China Museum and at Coalport YHA, with charges applied. Several riverside pubs are located within about one mile of the start, and the Coalport YHA lies within a similar distance.

The event is presented by How Hard Can It Be Events. Entry fees listed for the event range from £28 to £42 depending on distance. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
