Moors The Merrier 21

Moors The Merrier 21 is a winter running and walking event held on 12 December 2026 around the moors near Hebden Bridge. The event uses Mytholmroyd Community Centre as the start and finish venue and follows a 21 mile circular route.

The route is run anti clockwise and passes over Midgley Moor, Wadsworth Moor, Heptonstall Moor and Erringden Moor, finishing with a downhill section back to the community centre. Route maps and GPX files are maintained for the event and there is a bad weather alternative route.

Because the event takes place in winter, organisers require a set of mandatory kit. Required items include a Santa hat and a present for the Bran Tub worth no more than £5, waterproof jacket and trousers with taped seams and a hood, hat and gloves, map, compass and whistle, spare long sleeve top, spare food and drink, survival bag and a headtorch. A plastic mug for hot drinks on route is optional.

Participants are offered a hot meal after the event and changing rooms with showers are available at the venue. Open Tracking was introduced in 2024 to allow organisers to monitor progress around the route. The 2026 entry fee is £35 for affiliated and £35 for unaffiliated entries. The race is conducted under UKA rules and is licensed with the Trail Running Association and the Fell Running Association. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
