Moors the Merrier 21 (13 December 2025)
Moors the Merrier is a 21-mile circular walk or run around the moors of Hebden Bridge, with 21 miles and 3,900 ft of ascent. The anti-clockwise route starts and finishes at Hebden Bridge (Mount Skip) Golf Club and goes over Midgley Moor, Wadsworth Moor, Heptonstall Moor and Erringden Moor, finishing with a climb back to the golf club. The event is limited to 275 entries and is currently full; a waiting list is in place. The race is run under UKA rules and is licensed with the Trail Running Association and the Fell Runners Association. The race class is for those aged 18 or older; under 18s may take part in the non-competitive walkers class if accompanied by an adult.
Facilities, support and requirements
The event is fully supported with well stocked checkpoints, live tracking by OpenTracking, and GPX and route descriptions available. The club offers food and drink, changing rooms with showers and a bar; participants are served a hot meal at the finish and there are tea, coffee and toast at the start. As a winter event, organisers require participants to carry set equipment, including a Santa hat and a small present for the bran tub, waterproofs (top and bottoms), hat and gloves, map, compass and whistle, survival bag, spare clothing and food, and a headtorch. GPS devices are allowed only as a safety backup and the route is not flagged, so participants must follow the route description and visit all checkpoints in order. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
