The Marlow Donkey is a challenge event on Sunday 12 October 2025, organised by LDWA - Thames Valley and based at Liston Hall, Chapel Street, Marlow, Bucks SL7 1DD. The routes run in the Chiltern Hills with a new figure-of-eight route centred on Lane End. The aim is to complete, on foot, a route of either 16 miles or 25 miles within maximum time periods of 8 or 9.5 hours respectively. Walkers and runners are welcome. Drinks and snacks are provided at checkpoint points and a simple meal (daal curry) is served at the finish. Timed certificates are available by e-mail for finishers who request them on registration. Assistance dogs are allowed only with insurance. Entrants under 18 must have written consent from an adult and be accompanied by them.

Entry, logistics and requirements

Entries opened 1 June 2025 and closed 28 September 2025. Entry is limited to 150 participants; fees listed are £10.00 for LDWA members and £15.00 for non-members. There are no entries on the day and no refunds. Start and finish are at Liston Hall, Marlow. Nearby car parks include Liston Road opposite the hall and Dean Street about 100 m away; at the time of writing these charge £1.20 on Sunday. Marlow train station is about a 10-minute walk and local buses serve the town. Required equipment includes a personal drinking container (at least 1 litre recommended), plastic mug, paper route description, mobile phone (with spare battery), whistle, basic first aid including blister plasters, suitable footwear, waterproofs, compass and specified OS maps or GPS copies.
