About the Marlow Donkey

The Marlow Donkey is a Long Distance Walkers Association challenge event held in Marlow, Buckinghamshire on Sunday 4 October 2026. The event offers three waymarked route distances to be completed on foot within specified maximum time periods:

  • 15.6 miles (25 km)
  • 25 miles (40 km)
  • 31.3 miles (50 km)

Start and finish are at Liston Hall (Marlow Community Association). Checkpoints with cut-off times are used along the routes; entrants who miss checkpoint cut-offs must return on a shorter route. Entry is by online application via SiEntries, limited to 150 places, and entry fees are £15 for LDWA members and £20 for non-members. Entries open to LDWA members first and to others later, and close on the published closing date or when the limit is reached.

Entrants must carry a mobile phone and provide a separate emergency contact number, carry mandatory kit and a paper copy of the route description, and comply with event rules, the Countryside Code, and marshal directions. Junior entrants must have written parental consent and be accompanied. Food and drinks are provided at checkpoints and a simple meal at the finish; timed certificates are available on request for those finishing within time limits. Results will be published on the Thames Valley LDWA website after the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
