The Marlow Donkey

The Marlow Donkey is a waymarked challenge event centred on Liston Hall in Marlow, Bucks. Thames Valley LDWA offer three new route options that run through the Hambleden and Stonor valleys, with a figure of eight centred on the village of Hambleden and the long route extending to Bix.

  • 50 km

Participants aim to complete a chosen route on foot within maximum time allowances of 8 hours for the 25 km route and 11 hours for the longer routes. Drinks and snacks are provided at the start and at outward checkpoints, with minimal provision at Bix (CP3), and a simple meal of daal curry at the finish. The food provided cannot be guaranteed free from allergens. Timed e certificates will be available after the event via SI Entries and a free badge is included.

Entry is limited to 150 places. LDWA Members have preferential entry before entries open to others. Entry fees are £15 for LDWA Members and £20 for non LDWA Members. There are no entries on the day and no refunds; a waiting list operates once the event is full.

Mandatory minimum equipment includes a personal drinking container, a plastic mug, food and drink for long sections, a paper route description, a mobile phone with spare battery, whistle, basic first aid, suitable footwear, waterproofs, a compass and the specified maps or electronic mapping with adequate power. Trail running on 31 January 2026 at Hound House Road in Surrey with 10 km and 15 km routes over hilly mixed terrain. Parking, toilets and refreshments are available; entries close 29 January 2026.
