About the Marlow Donkey
The Marlow Donkey is a Thames Valley LDWA challenge walk held in Marlow, Buckinghamshire, with start and finish at Liston Hall (Marlow Community Association). The event offers three mapped route options with published route descriptions and GPX files made available at least one week before the event.
Distances offered:
- 15.6 miles (25km)
- 25 miles (40km)
- 31.3 miles (50km)
Each route has an overall maximum completion time and formal checkpoint cut off times; entrants who miss a checkpoint time must follow a shorter alternative as described in the route instructions. The event is limited to 150 entrants on a first come first served basis. Entry opens to LDWA members earlier than to non members and closes on the stated closing date or when the limit is reached. Fees differ for members and non members and include drinks and snacks at the start, food at checkpoints, a simple meal at the finish and transport for retirees. No on the day entries or postal entries are accepted and refunds are not available except where the organisers cancel the event.
Entrants must carry mandatory kit including a paper copy of the route description, a personal drinking container and plastic mug, mobile phone, whistle, basic first aid items, suitable footwear, waterproofs and navigational map or GPS. The organisers may vary the route, carry out kit checks, and will retain necessary entrant data for event management and safety. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
