Hardmoors 30 : overview

The Hardmoors 30 is a winter trail race held on Saturday 3 January 2026, based at Fylingdales Village Hall, Robin Hood's Bay (YO22 4RP). The route follows coastal and off-road paths on the Cleveland Way and the Cinder Track, passing Robin Hood’s Bay, Ravenscar, Hayburn Wyke, Crookness and Scalby Mills on the edge of Scarborough. The course distance is approximately 30–32 miles with around 3,400 ft / 1,040 m of ascent. The event has an entry limit of 200 and an overall time limit of 11 hours. Entry fees are listed as Attached £62 and Unattached £64; £1.00 of each entry fee is donated to the Cleveland Way National Trail.

Course, checkpoints and requirements

The route is circular with multiple checkpoints and staffed aid points providing food and refreshments. Key locations listed as checkpoints include Station Road, Ravenscar; Crookness; Scalby Mills; and the start/finish at Fylingdales Village Hall. Checkpoint cut-offs are published for intermediate controls and the finish; participants must pass all checkpoints within the stated time limits and log in with marshals. Dogs are not permitted at the event.

Mandatory kit required for the duration of the event includes hat and gloves, a waterproof jacket with taped seams, at least 500 ml of drink, a headtorch or torch, whistle, emergency food, map and route description, survival bag or foil blanket, mobile phone, a cup for aid stations, and means to attach the race bib.
