The Conquer : Backyard Ultra (December 6, 2025)

The Conquer is a backyard ultra held at Amicalola Falls State Park in Dawsonville, GA. The event uses an hourly loop format: runners must complete the same marked trail loop within one hour and then start the next loop at the top of the hour. The event continues in this way until only one runner completes a final solo lap and is declared the finisher. Prize money is determined by the number of same-sex registrants; examples given include $5,000 to the last woman if 50 women register and $10,000 to the last man if 100 men register. Each entrant is given a $100 bill to carry during the race; runners who drop out place their bill into a glass case for the eventual winner to claim.

Course, rules and services

The loop begins at the top of the falls, follows the East Ridge trail down to the lower Mountain Laurel trail, then climbs the AT Approach trails back to the top, and is described as roughly a 4-mile loop with about 1,065 ft of elevation and 605 steps. The course is fully marked and cutting is not allowed. Key rules: each runner must carry the provided $100, complete the full loop within 60 minutes, and "answer the bell" at each hour. No pacers are allowed; support crews may assist at the finish area. The event provides a 10x10 spot or table space, timing services, snacks and water, free photos, and custom "Did Not Win" medals for non-winning finishers.
