Assault on Yonah Mountain - September 28, 2025

Assault on Yonah Mountain in Cleveland, GA is an uphill-only event from the bottom to the summit. The course is about 2.5 miles with roughly 1650 feet of vertical gain. The event offers a ruck division and awards a medal to all finishers; top three men and top three women receive custom handmade awards. Timing covers only the climb from the bottom to the top.

Course, divisions and cutoffs

All participants park at the start area and walk down to the paved road to begin at the bottom of a gravel driveway road. The race goes immediately uphill: about 0.3 miles with 175 ft gain to the trailhead, then single track divided into bottom, middle and top sections. The middle section contains the steepest and most technical terrain, including a very rocky stretch below the old helipad and a 0.1 mile section described as 35% grade. The top section is about 0.75 miles at an approximate 12-20% grade and finishes on the summit field.

A ruck division requires minimum carried weight of 15 pounds for women and 20 pounds for men. The event has a 2 hour 15 minute overall cutoff and a first-overlook cutoff at about 1 hour 15 minutes; participants past those limits may be turned around or recorded as DNF.

Safety and logistics

Organizers recommend grippy trail shoes due to rock gardens and wet conditions. The route includes gravel, dirt road, technical rock sections and at least one place where hands may be needed. Participants must descend under their own power after finishing. Shirts are available for purchase before the event and medals are distributed in person. RunBumTours operates the race series.
