Course, divisions and rules

The race starts at the bottom of a gravel driveway and reaches the trailhead after about 0.3 miles with 175 feet of gain, then continues on single track. The climb is described in three sections: bottom (more gradual with some rocky bits), middle (steep and technical with very rocky sections below the old helipad, including a 0.1 mile section at about 35 percent grade), and top (about 0.75 miles at roughly 12-20 percent grade to the summit field finish). A ruck division requires minimum carried weight of 15 pounds for women and 20 pounds for men. The event time limit is 2 hours 15 minutes with a cutoff at the first overlook / old helipad of 1 hour 15 minutes. All finishers receive a medal; to be guaranteed a medal registration must be completed by September 15. Shirts are available for separate purchase before August 30 and must be picked up in person. The event recommends grippy trail shoes and notes parts of the trail are technical. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
