The Bryre Dragon is an ultramarathon event offering three race distances on trails around Vogel State Park in Blairsville, Georgia. The event comprises a 100-mile race, a 40-mile race, and a 40-kilometer race.

  • Bryre Dragon 100M: A 100-mile race that starts on a Friday morning. The course involves multiple traverses of the Duncan Ridge Trail. The final cutoff is 50 hours after the start.
  • Bryre Dragon 40M: A 40-mile race that starts on Saturday morning. Runners complete one lap of the primary course, with a final cutoff of 22 hours.
  • Dragon Egg 40K: A 40-kilometer race starting Saturday morning. The course is an out-and-back to Mulky Gap and is designed to be completed in daylight, with a final cutoff of 12.5 hours.

The start and finish for all races is at the Group Shelter in Vogel State Park. Mandatory check-in for participants is held the evening before each race. The 100M and 40M races start at 7:00 AM, while the 40K starts at 7:30 AM.

Course and Support

The course uses a combination of the Coosa Loop, Duncan Ridge Trail, a section of the Benton MacKaye Trail, and some forest service roads. The terrain is described as having considerable elevation gain but being less technical by East Coast standards.
