Bryre Dragon (Baby Dragon) at Vogel State Park

The Bryre Dragon event takes place at Vogel State Park near Blairsville, GA. The weekend comprises multiple trail race options that use the Duncan Ridge corridor and nearby trails.

Distances and formats

  • 100 mile race with multiple traverses of the Duncan Ridge.
  • 40 mile race that completes one full lap of the course.
  • 40 km (Dragon Egg) out-and-back to Mulky Gap with no nighttime running.

Course and terrain The course combines the Coosa Loop, the Duncan Ridge Trail, a short section of the Benton MacKaye Trail and some Forest Service road. Trails are described as having considerable elevation gain but are not highly technical by East Coast standards. The route is mostly out-and-back with differing outbound and inbound crossings, including a Wolf Creek river crossing on the outbound and Forest Service roads on the return.

Logistics and support Support locations include Vogel State Park Group Shelter, Fire Pit, Fish Gap and Skeenah Gap; Mulky Gap is added for the 40 km. Hot food and drinks will be available at Vogel and restrooms are adjacent to campsites. Check-in and finish are at the Group Shelter. Volunteer work earns credit toward future race entries.

Registration Registration closes on Mon, Aug 10 prior to the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
