The Bull Mountain Epic
The Bull Mountain Epic takes place October 3, 2026, in Dahlonega, GA. The event uses the Jake and Bull Mountain trail system and offers a 50K and a half marathon on natural single-track and forest roads.
- 50K - three ~10 mile loops; 5000' total elevation gain
- Half Marathon - single loop over Bull Mountain plus short double track
The course is composed of three different loops, each approximately 10 miles long. 50K entrants complete each loop once; half marathon entrants run one loop and a bit of double track to reach the distance. Runners pass the main aid station after each 10-mile loop.
Trail terrain includes some technical sections but is mostly runnable single track. Course features listed by the organizer include waterfalls, multiple stream crossings, rocky climbs, and fast descents. There are three aid stations; aid is described as veggie friendly with soups, fruits, some hot foods cooking in the evening, standard aid station items, and volunteer specialties served until the last finisher.
The event has a 12 hour cut-off. For the 50K, all runners must be on loop 3 by 4pm. Pacers are not allowed. Access to the Bull Mountain parking lot uses a forest service road (FS 83) that currently has large ruts and holes that may be difficult for low clearance vehicles to navigate. Awards are given to the top three female and male finishers in each event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
