The Bull Mountain Epic : Dahlonega, GA

The Bull Mountain Epic takes place on the Jake and Bull Mountain Trail System near Dahlonega, GA. The trail system comprises three loops, each approximately 10 miles. The event offers two distance options:

  • 50K - three loops, about 5000 feet total elevation gain
  • Half Marathon - one loop up and over Bull Mountain plus some double track

The course is mostly runnable single track with some technical sections. Trail features include waterfalls, multiple stream crossings, rocky climbs and fast descents. Runners pass the main aid station / start / finish after each roughly 10 mile loop.

There are three aid stations stocked with vegetarian-friendly options, soups, fruits, some hot foods cooking in the evening, standard aid station fare, and volunteer specialty items served until the last finisher. The event enforces a 12 hour cutoff; 50K runners must be on loop 3 by 4pm. Pacers are not allowed. Awards are given to the top three female and top three male finishers in each event.

Recent rainfall has washed out portions of the forest service road to the Bull Mountain parking lot, creating large ruts and holes that may be difficult for low clearance vehicles. Registration closes Fri, Oct 2 at 11:59 PM ET. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
