Event overview
The Blue 2 Blue Challenge is a 50K trail event on May 3, 2026 in New Haven, Connecticut. Registration is by waitlist and requires a qualifying trail 50k (or equivalent) finished in the previous 12 months; entries are vetted before being added. Registration closes on May 2. The course is described as running more like a 50-miler with about 6,350 feet of climbing and mostly technical, rocky trails.
Course and logistics
The race is an out-and-back that starts at West Rock Playground and finishes back at Amrhyn Field, following blue-blazed trails including the Westville Feeder, Regicides Trail, and the Quinnipiac Trail. Notable route features include climbs to High Rock, Mad Mare Ridge, and a summit of Mt. Sanford near mile 12; the turnaround is on Cornwall Ave in Prospect at about mile 16.4. All distances are approximate; the finish is listed at mile 32.8.
Aid stations are located near miles 4 (water only), 8.1, 11.5, 16.4 (drop bag), 21, 24.5, and 28.5 (water only). One drop bag will be shuttled to the turnaround; runners are asked to keep it small. There is a strict 10-hour overall cutoff and enforced intermediate cutoffs (turnaround at mile 16 in 4.5 hours; mile 24 in 7 hours). No pacers and no crews are allowed; receiving outside aid can result in disqualification. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
