Trail Racing in Cockaponsett State Forest

Cockaponsett Trails to a Cure is a trail running event held in Chester, Connecticut. The races take place within the Cockaponsett State Forest, utilizing the local trail network for two distinct distances:

  • 4 miles
  • 9 miles

The course is characterized by technical terrain including roots, rocks, and muddy sections. Participants will encounter several hills throughout the route. To allow the field of runners to spread out before entering the single-track sections, the first half mile of the race is positioned on a paved road.

For the 9 mile distance, water stations are located at the 2, 4, 6, and 7-mile marks. The 4 mile course follows the first section of the longer route. This event is a part of the Blue Blazed Trail Race series. Registration is offered free of charge for participants aged 75 and older.

The event serves as a fundraiser, with all proceeds benefiting PanCAN. Access to the venue at the Pattaconk Reservoir Dam may require a parking fee for vehicles with out-of-state license plates. There is no registration available on the day of the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
