Run for the Hills - Niantic

Event overview

The Run for The Hills is scheduled for Saturday, September 12, 2026, at Oswegatchie Hills Nature Preserve in Niantic, CT. The event is the fourth annual edition and features a 5K trail run that follows hiking trails by Clark Pond and around the perimeter of the preserve. The route includes exposed rocks and roots along the trails. Hikers are also welcome to participate. Proceeds from the race will go to maintaining the preserve.

Logistics, fees and awards

Registration opens March 30, 2026. Entry fees listed are $25 until August 16, then $30 online; day-of cash registration is listed at $35. There is parking adjacent to the preserve, with overflow at East Lyme Town Hall, 108 Pennsylvania Ave., Niantic. The awards ceremony is held at the Niantic Public House after the race; all registrants age 21 and older receive a coupon redeemable at that sponsor. Results will be professionally timed by SNERRO, LLC. Prizes include overall first place male and female and top three men and women in each age group (19 and under; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60-69; 70+).
