Run for the Pumpkins Trail Run

The event takes place on Saturday, October 3, 2026 at Bradford Preserve in Westerly, Rhode Island. It is presented by Westerly Track & Athletic Club, Westerly Recreation, and the Westerly Municipal Land Trust and is part of a Fall Race Series with discounts for signing up for multiple races in one transaction.

Distances offered:

  • 5K on preserved town property
  • 10K through preserved property and Woody Hill Management Area
  • Free kids fun run for ages 10 and under

The courses start and finish at Bradford Preserve and use primarily dirt trails, including a mix of double-track and single-track. To reduce crowding at the trail entrance, runners follow the perimeter of an open grass field for about one third of a mile before entering the trails. The route is marked with flags, signs, and seasonal decorations.

Participants and volunteers must wear at least 200 square inches of orange clothing per State of Rhode Island DEM requirements. Strollers and dogs are prohibited on the course. Walkers are welcome and are asked to consider the shorter 5K course.

Entry fees vary by registration period and include discounts for WTAC members and Mohegan Striders. Awards are given to overall male and female finishers and to the top finisher in each listed age group. Mini pumpkins or gourds are given to pre-registered kids who finish, while supplies last.
