Ocean State Ultra

Ocean State Ultra is a loop-format trail event held at Big River Management Area in West Greenwich, Rhode Island. The event offers multiple race categories on the same day and uses repeated 10 mile loops through the management area.

Each loop contains approximately 1.5 miles of desert, 1 mile of pavement, and 7.5 miles of trails. Elevation gain is about 430 ft per loop and the terrain is described as relatively flat and minimally technical.

Aid arrangements include a fully stocked main aid station at the start area, additional manned aid stations near the roughly 5 mile point of each loop, and two unmanned water and electrolyte stations at about 2.5 miles from the start and finish area. Aid stations provide water, electrolytes, candy, snacks, and later in the day hot meal options. Drop bags may be left with race staff and should be clearly marked for identification. To accommodate nut allergies, no nuts will be served at aid stations.

Event setup rules note that tents are prohibited except at designated aid stations; participants may set up tables in the designated area by the start line and fires are not allowed. Parking will be offsite with a shuttle to the start area. Registration opens on Monday, March 30, 2026 at 12:00 AM ET.
