Ocean State Ultra

The Ocean State Ultra is a running event on Saturday, August 29, 2026. It is held at Big River State Management Area in West Greenwich, Rhode Island. The event offers three race distances: 100 mile, 12 hour, and 6 hour. The 100-mile race has a 36-hour time limit, concluding on Sunday, August 30th.

The race course is a 10-mile loop through the Big River Management Area. Each loop consists of 1.5 miles of desert terrain, 1 mile of pavement, and 7.5 miles of trails. The trail is described as relatively flat with an elevation gain of 430 feet per loop and minimally technical terrain.

There is a fully stocked main aid station at the start area and a manned aid station at about the 5-mile mark of each loop. Two unmanned water/electrolyte stations are located approximately 2.5 miles from the start and finish. Aid stations provide water, electrolytes, candy, and snacks, with hot meals like ramen and rice added later in the day. Drop bags are allowed at any aid station. To accommodate allergies, no nuts are served at aid stations.

Parking is offsite at a location to be announced, with a shuttle provided for participants and spectators. Participants receive a race sweatshirt, and 100-mile finishers receive a buckle. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
