Tower Tag Challenge : Sleeping Giant State Park

The event is a repeated out and back on the Tower Trail at Sleeping Giant State Park in Hamden, Connecticut. Each lap begins near the pavilion, reaches the Tower Trail in just over 0.1 mile, follows a winding crushed gravel carriage road that climbs to the Observation Tower, circles the tower counterclockwise, and returns the same way. Each attempt is 3.3 miles.

The Tower Trail gains about 600+ ft in roughly 1.5 miles to the top of the park. The course includes a short paved section at the start and end of each loop. Participants choose between timed formats that allow multiple continuous laps within either a four hour or an eight hour window; only completed laps count.

Aid at the start and finish provides water, electrolyte drink, and typical packaged snacks. The event is cupless, so runners must carry their own hydration bottle, pack, or cup. Course markings and a downloadable GPX file are provided; runners are responsible for knowing the course and following marked routes. The organizer enforces standard trail rules including no littering, no cutting switchbacks, and returning to the point where a runner strays from the course.

Other event details note that entry fees are nonrefundable and that awards include a finisher medal and top overall awards for male and female finishers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
