Tower Tag Challenge
The Tower Tag Challenge takes place at Sleeping Giant State Park in Hamden, Connecticut. The event uses the Tower Trail, a mostly smooth carriage road that rises about 600 feet in roughly 1.5 miles to an Observation Tower. Each lap is an out and back that begins near the park pavilion, includes a short paved section at the start and end, follows a winding crushed gravel path to the tower, circles the tower counterclockwise, and returns the same way. Each attempt is about 3.3 miles.
The event is offered in two timed formats, four hour and eight hour, during which participants complete as many full laps as they can within the time limit. An aid station at the start and finish provides water and electrolyte drink plus common snacks. The event operates a cupless policy, so participants must carry their own bottle, pack, or cup.
Race policies emphasize trail stewardship and safety. Littering is prohibited on state park land, following the marked course is mandatory, and runners are responsible for knowing the course; downloading the GPX file is suggested. Port-a-johns will be available near the start and finish. The organizer states that registrations are nonrefundable and not transferable. Special finisher medals and podium awards for overall male and female finishers are listed among event awards. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
