Tower Tag Challenge

Hamden, United States • 6 Dec 2025

Event overview

The Tower Tag Challenge is organized by Steep Endurance at Sleeping Giant State Park in Hamden, Connecticut (200 Mt Carmel Ave). It is a timed trail event offering 8-hour and 4-hour options; results are based on the number of completed out-and-back laps. Entry fees vary by event and registration date, with listed tiers ranging from about $55 to $80. The organizer’s refund policy states there are no refunds or transfers of registration or bibs.

Course and logistics

The course uses the Tower Trail near the park entrance, a mostly smooth carriage road that rises about 600+ feet in 1.5 miles to the Observation Tower. Each lap starts at the pavilion inside the park, includes a short paved section at the start and end, follows a winding crushed-gravel path up to the tower (participants pass the tower counterclockwise), and returns the same way. Each lap is roughly 3.3 miles. Aid at the start/finish includes water or electrolyte drink and snack items; the event is cupless, so runners must carry their own hydration bottle, pack, or cup. Awards include a finisher medal from Ragged Cuts, sponsor swag, and top-3 overall male/female awards. Parking is available just inside the park entrance and on the north side of Mount Carmel Avenue. The event notes standard park rules such as no littering and mandatory course following. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
