Tower Tag Challenge

Tower Tag Challenge is held at Sleeping Giant State Park in Hamden, Connecticut. The course centers on the Tower Trail, a mostly smooth carriage road that ascends about 600 feet in roughly 1.5 miles to the Observation Tower. The event uses an out and back format on this primary trail with a short paved section at the start and end of each loop.

Each attempt begins at the pavilion inside the park and reaches the Tower Trail in just over one tenth of a mile. Runners follow a winding crushed gravel path up to the Observation Tower, circle the tower counterclockwise, and return the same way. One complete attempt is 3.3 miles. The event offers timed options so participants can complete as many out and back laps as they choose within either a four hour or an eight hour time block.

An aid station at the start/finish provides water, electrolyte drink, and typical race food items. The event enforces a cupless policy; participants must carry their own hydration bottle, pack, or cup.

Event rules emphasize trail stewardship and safety: no littering, nontransferable bibs, mandatory course following, and respect for other trail users. Port a johns are available near the start and finish. A GPX file of the 3.3 mile out and back course is provided for navigation. Awards include a Ragged Cuts finisher medal, additional sponsor swag, and top three overall male and female podium awards. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
