Nipmuck South Trail Race : June 14, 2026
The event is a pair of trail races held at the picnic area in Mansfield Hollow State Park in Mansfield, CT, organized by the Shenipsit Striders. Parking is near the start/finish area and participants are asked to follow directions from volunteers.
Distances:
- 15.7 miles out and back on the Nipmuck Trail.
- 5K new loop inside Mansfield Hollow State Park, all trails, no road crossings.
The 15.7 mile course runs mostly on the Nipmuck Trail alongside the Fenton River and includes three water stops and support at road crossings. Terrain includes small bridge crossings, fields and woods, a climb to a 50 foot cliff, and a finish near Old Turnpike Road by Route 44.
The 5K course, new for 2026, mixes runnable single-track and longer trail sections including the Flood Line Trail, Blue Trail and a Yellow Trail loop. The route is marked with flagging and signs and features technical sections and several short steep hills in the final mile.
Proceeds will go to Connecticut trail stewardship organizations such as the Connecticut Forest and Park Association, Joshua’s Trust, and the Northern Connecticut Land Trust. Pre-registration is recommended; race day registration is accepted at a higher price for cash payments. Race shirts are available as an add-on when registering and must be ordered before May 22.
