Fall Fling 400

The Fall Fling 400 is an annual trail running event held at YMCA Camp Sloper in Southington, Connecticut. Organized by the CT Trailmixers, the event takes place on a roughly two-mile loop course. The terrain features a mix of single-track wooded trails and dirt or gravel roads. Participants encounter moderately rolling hills, with some sections containing rocks and roots while others are smoother.

The event offers two main participation options:

  • Fall Fling 400: A timed event where participants run as many loops as possible within a 400-minute (six hours and 40 minutes) time limit.
  • Fall Fling 4 Mile: A fixed-distance race consisting of two laps of the loop course.

The course is marked with flags, and timing is managed via electronic chips, allowing runners to track their lap counts on a monitor at the start and finish area. Only laps completed within the 400-minute window are counted for the long-duration event.

The event operates as a 'no cup' race, requiring participants to bring their own reusable cups or mugs for hydration. A main aid station is located at the pavilion, offering water, electrolyte drinks, and various food items like fruit, chips, and baked goods. Participants are permitted to set up personal gear and drop bags at the start and finish area. Facilities include portalets and permanent bathrooms near the aid station. Proceeds from the event support local organizations and a youth shoe scholarship program. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
