Teacup Tune-up Trail Running Race
The Teacup Tune-up is the second annual trail running race held on September 27 on the Teacup Ski Trail System. The event uses ski trails, old forest roads and single track; the land remains open to other users and vehicles may be encountered on Forest Service Roads.
Distances offered:
- 7.5 km
- 2.2 km for age 12 and under
- 1.3 km kids race
The course passes lake views, Nordic Junction and Tea Time. Early sections run like single track through bunch grass. The descent includes a loose, somewhat technical section on Revenge, a smooth stretch on Hood River Road, and a soft but stable two-track on Elkhorn. Owly Way, the Vista Ridge Running Connection, and Vista Ridge return runners to the high point and the cabin finish. The route includes a sustained climb to the high point on a mix of old forest roads, ski trails and single track.
Logistics note that parking is at the main parking lot and the trail has been mowed to the cabin, which serves as the check-in and start and finish area. There will be one water station at the beginning of Owly Way. Restrooms will be open and light refreshments will be available. A brief racer meeting will be held before the races.
