Lastest Not Fastest

The Lastest Not Fastest is a last person standing trail race held on Hamilton Island beside North Bonneville in the Columbia River Gorge. The event is scheduled for October 3, 2026. Competitors run a repeated 4.13 mile loop on mostly flat trails with approximately 103 feet of elevation gain; the loop equates to about a 14:32 per mile pace if completed in 60 minutes.

Runners must start each loop on the hour and complete the loop in under 60 minutes to remain in the race; participants who finish faster have more recovery time before the next loop. Loops continue every hour until only one runner remains.

The route runs alongside the Columbia River, enters a forested area near the Bonneville Dam, crosses a public road about halfway, includes a single hill of roughly 30 feet, passes the southern edge of North Bonneville and open fields, and returns along the parking area and river trail to the start area. Trails and parking areas remain open to other users during the event.

There is a staffed aid area at the start and finish offering gels, electrolyte drink, water, snacks and real food available in the evening. Crew is optional; crew may establish a presence in designated parking areas but cannot access runners while they are on course. No overnight parking is permitted the night before the race.

Registration is tiered between $165 and $195. Registrants agree to a no transfer and no refund policy with limited credit more than 30 days before the event. Distances for all participants are posted to race result services and a DNF is recorded only if the first lap is not completed. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
