The Ruff is scheduled for November 22, 2026 at the Dog Mountain Trailhead in Carson, WA. The event is organized by Elevated Trail Racing and is presented as a 7 miles trail race on single-track trails.

The course starts and finishes at Dog Mountain Trailhead. Runners ascend the Dog Mountain Trail to the summit, climbing roughly three miles with about 3000 ft of elevation gain, then descend about four miles via the Augspurger Trail to the finish.

Bibs are available for pickup the morning of the race from 8 AM to 9:45 AM at the Dog Mountain Trailhead. Parking is limited and participants are asked to carpool if possible.

Awards include top three male and female overall, top masters male and female, and specific prizes for King and Queen of the Mountain. First place male and female will receive a free pair of Inov-8 shoes. A fastest downhill male and female award is offered; an individual may receive only one award.

Food and beverages will be available, including beer provided by Ninkasi Brewing Company and pizza provided by Backwoods Brewing Company. Well behaved dogs are welcome.

The event is held under a special use permit in partnership with the US Forest Service and the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area.
