Thunder River : Daybreak Racing

Thunder River is a late season trail event on October 31, 2026, staged from Marine Park in Cascade Locks, Oregon, within the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area. The event offers two marked trail races that travel on sections of the Pacific Crest Trail and the Gorge 400 trail and finish at Marine Park after a loop around Thunder Island in the Columbia River.

The available distances are:

  • 50K lollipop course
  • 25K point to point course

The 25K start is at Wyeth Trailhead; a shuttle from Marine Park is available for 25K runners for a fee of $15. Registration opens May 1 and published entry fees vary by registration period; fees do not include taxes, processing fees, or optional race swag. Included services listed for registrants are chip timing, live results, full service aid stations, medical support, radio communications, post race food and beverages, custom finisher awards, and professional photography.

Event logistics note a $10 daily parking fee at Marine Park paid to the Port of Cascade Locks, additional curbside parking on Wa Na Pa St, and a 12 foot clearance limit at the Marine Park entrance. Use of boot brushes is required by the US Forest Service at check-in or start areas. A portion of race proceeds will be donated to Trailkeepers of Oregon. A trail race through Yacolt Burn State Forest on July 5, 2026, offering a 50-mile, 50K, and marathon course with rugged terrain, aid stations, camping, a post-race meal, and a bell-ringing finish tradition.

An obstacle course at Lacamas Lake Regional Park featuring a 4+ mile natural-terrain course with 10+ obstacles, a kids loop for ages 4–10, and a festival area with local vendors and BBQ.

A 100 mile mountain trail race around Mt. Hood with 17,300 feet of ascent and descent, staged at Mt. Hood Meadows. The crew accessible lollipop loop course features aid stations, chip timing and a finisher metal belt buckle.

A two day mountain trail running weekend at Mt. Hood Meadows with alpine courses reaching 8,000 feet and distances from a .75 mile kids run to a 50 mile race. The 50K is the 2026 USATF 50K Trail National Championship.
