Thunder River : October 31, 2026
Thunder River is a late season trail running event staged from Marine Park in Cascade Locks, Oregon, inside the Columbia River Gorge. The courses run along sections of the Pacific Crest Trail and the Gorge 400 trail and pass under the Bridge of the Gods into Cascade Locks. Both races finish with a trail loop around Thunder Island and conclude at the Marine Park Pavilion.
Available race distances:
- 50K lollipop course using Gorge trails.
- 25K point to point course to Wyeth Trailhead.
Event services include a fully marked course, chip timing with live results, staffed aid stations, on‑site medical support, radio communications, post race food and beverages, custom finisher awards, and professional photography. A portion of race proceeds is donated to Trailkeepers of Oregon.
Logistics and site notes: parking is available at Marine Park with a daily fee payable to the Port of Cascade Locks; additional curbside parking is available on Wa Na Pa Street. There is a $15 shuttle fee for 25K runners who need transport to the Wyeth Trailhead start; shuttle space should be arranged during registration. Campground sites are present at Marine Park but require separate reservations. The nearest major airport is Portland International Airport, about 38 miles from the staging area.
Race morning procedures include required boot brush use at check in and start areas to reduce spread of invasive seeds. Dogs are not allowed on the course, at aid stations, or inside the Pavilion. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
