Thunder River : event overview

Thunder River is a trail running event staged at Marine Park in Cascade Locks, Oregon, on November 8, 2025. The event offers two distances:

  • 50K
  • 25K

Both courses run through the Columbia River Gorge area and include sections of the Pacific Crest Trail and the Gorge 400 trail. Runners pass under the Bridge of the Gods into Cascade Locks and finish with a trail loop around Thunder Island, with the finish at Marine Park. The 25K is a purely point-to-point course; the 50K is mostly point-to-point.

Course services and practical information

The event provides marked courses, chip timing, full-service aid stations, professional medical support, radio communications, on-course photography, and post-race food and beverages. A $10 shuttle bus fee applies for runners who need a ride from Marine Park to the start; the shuttle ride is approximately 15 minutes. Event parking at Marine Park carries a $10 daily fee paid to the Port of Cascade Locks; additional curbside parking is available on Wa Na Pa St. Use of boot brushes is required by the US Forest Service at check-in and start areas. Dogs are not allowed on the course, at aid stations, or inside the Pavilion; leashed dogs are allowed in outdoor areas of the staging site under owner control. A portion of proceeds will be donated to Trailkeepers of Oregon. Registration fees vary by date range: 50K ($140, $150, $165) and 25K ($110, $120, $135).
