Summits of The North York Moors Ultra is a circular foot race held on 4–5 July 2026 in the North York Moors National Park. The route is around 120 miles long and includes approximately 16,000 ft of ascent, taking in the 10 highest hills within the park. The course follows sections of established long-distance paths and passes ancient burial sites, boundary stones, crosses and Bronze Age earthworks. The race starts and finishes at Goathland Village Hall.

Logistics, rules and kit

Maximum field size is 70 participants and minimum age is 18. The event has a total time limit of 35 hours; there is also a requirement that all participants must have left the final indoor checkpoint at about 80 miles within 22 hours. Indoor checkpoints are located at circa 40 and 80 miles and will provide hot water, tea/coffee, soft drinks and food options including packet noodles, jacket potatoes and some vegan and gluten free options. Entrants receive a tracker and a GPX file; one medium drop bag per participant will be taken to the indoor checkpoints.

Support crews are limited to three people and one vehicle and may assist only at designated checkpoints; outside assistance is not allowed except in emergencies. Pacers and support runners are not permitted. Mandatory kit includes hat and gloves, waterproof jacket and trousers, spare thermal top, emergency bivvy, capacity for 2 litres of water, at least 250 g emergency food, head torch with spare batteries, charged mobile with power bank and mapping apps, paper map and working compass.
