Summits of The North York Moors Ultra is a foot race on 4–5 July 2026 organised by SilverBackTrails. The event starts and finishes at Goathland Village Hall (The Common, Goathland, YO22 5JS). The advertised distance is 120 miles with approximately 16,000 ft of elevation and a total time limit of 35 hours. Entry fee is £110. Entries open 8 July 2025 and close 27 June 2026. The event is limited to a maximum of 70 participants and the minimum age is 18. Entrants receive a tracker and a GPX file of the route. Finishers receive a medal and a certificate; there is an option to purchase a T-shirt.

Route, support and rules

The circular route visits the 10 highest hills within the North York Moors National Park and follows parts of established paths such as the Cleveland Way, Esk Valley Walk and Lyke Wake Walk. Indoor checkpoints are located at circa 40 miles and 80 miles, with other outdoor checkpoints supplying water, soft drinks and snacks. Indoor checkpoints offer hot water, tea/coffee, Super Noodles, jacket potatoes and some vegan and gluten free options. One medium drop bag per participant will be taken to the indoor checkpoints.

Support crews are allowed up to three people and one vehicle and may assist only at designated checkpoints. Pacers or support runners are not permitted. Prohibited items include sticks and headphones. There is a mandatory kit check; required items include hat and gloves, waterproof jacket and trousers, spare thermal top, emergency bivvy, capacity to carry 2 litres of water, 250 g emergency food, head torch with spare batteries, charged mobile phone with OS Locate and What3Words, a suitable map and a working compass.
