Event Overview
Summits of the North York Moors Ultra is a foot race. It is the event's second year. The course is a circular route of approximately 120 miles. It visits the ten highest hills within the North York Moors National Park.
Route Details
The route passes ancient burial sites, medieval boundary stones, ancient crosses, and Bronze Age earthworks. Runners will follow parts of long-distance paths, including the Cleveland Way, Esk Valley Walk, and Lyke Wake Walk. The journey offers expansive views and follows clearly defined tracks and trods.
The landscape has a long history. The paths have been used by people from the Stone Age, Bronze Age, Celtic, Viking, and medieval periods. The moorland was formed millions of years ago and shaped by glaciers around 30,000 years ago.
