Summits of The North York Moors Ultra is a footrace held on Saturday 4th to Sunday 5th July 2026. The route is a circular course of approximately 120 miles with about 16,000 ft of ascent. The course visits the 10 highest hills in the North York Moors National Park and follows sections of the Cleveland Way, Esk Valley Walk and Lyke Wake Walk. The start and finish are at Goathland Village Hall, The Common, Goathland, YO22 5JS. The organiser is SilverBackTrails. Entry fee is £110. Entries open 8 July 2025 and close 27 June 2026. The minimum age to enter is 18 and the field is limited to a maximum of 70 participants.

Logistics and rules

The event has a 35 hour total time limit; participants must have left the final indoor checkpoint at about 80 miles within 22 hours. Indoor checkpoints are provided at about 40 and 80 miles with hot water, hot drinks, snacks, and some vegan and gluten free options. One medium drop bag per participant will be taken to the indoor checkpoints. All entrants receive a tracker and a GPX of the route. Support crews of up to three people and one vehicle are allowed but may assist only at designated checkpoints; outside assistance is prohibited and may lead to disqualification. Pacers and headphones are not allowed. A mandatory kit check will require items such as waterproofs, hat and gloves, emergency bivvy, capacity for 2 litres of water, head torch with spare batteries, map, compass and a charged mobile phone with OS Locate and What3Words.
