The event is a long-distance walking challenge organised by LDWA - Marches Group on 28 February 2026, starting and finishing at Minsterley Village Hall, Station Road, Minsterley, Shrewsbury, SY5 0BE. The route is 25 mile with about 4,675 ft of ascent and a 10 hour time limit. The route will be undisclosed until the day of the event and participants receive a clear route description at registration.
The course is divided into four legs with three serviced checkpoints that provide refreshments. The route description gives grid references for each checkpoint and indicates the best line between them. Participants must be able to navigate using map and compass and the description is written for use with OS Explorer Sheet 216 Welshpool and Montgomery at 1:25 000.
There is car parking at the village hall but no overnight camping before or after the event. Entrants must be at least 18 years old. Dogs are not permitted.
Required clothing and equipment must be worn or carried and include a mug, walking boots or event/fell running shoes with well-studded soles, complete body and leg covering, wind and waterproof jacket and over-trousers, spare inner garment, hat and gloves, survival bag, emergency food and drink, torch, basic first aid, compass and whistle, and OS Explorer sheet 216. Hot food, hot drinks and a completion certificate are provided on return. The event is currently full and new entries are placed on a waiting list.
