43rd South Shropshire Circular

The 43rd South Shropshire Circular is scheduled for 28 February 2026 and starts and finishes at Minsterley Village Hall, Station Road, Minsterley, Shrewsbury SY5 0BE. There is car parking at the village hall and no overnight camping before or after the event.

The route is a 25 mile course with about 4675 ft of ascent across South Shropshire countryside. The exact route is not disclosed until the day of the event when participants receive a printed route description. The route is divided into four legs with three serviced checkpoints providing refreshments and the description gives grid references for each checkpoint. The event has a 10 hour time limit and participants must be able to navigate using map and compass with OS Explorer Sheet 216 (Welshpool and Montgomery) at 1:25 000.

Registration and issue of the route description take place in the village hall on the day. Hot food, hot drinks and a certificate are provided on return to Minsterley. No late starts are allowed.

Entry is restricted to people aged 18 or older and dogs are not permitted on the event. The event is currently full and new entries are placed on a waiting list. Entry fees listed for this event are £14 for LDWA members and £19 for non members.

Participants must wear or carry required clothing and equipment. Required items include a mug, walking boots or well studded event or fell running shoes, full body and leg covering, wind and waterproof jacket and over-trousers, spare inner garment, hat and gloves, survival bag, emergency food and drink, torch, basic first aid, compass and whistle, and OS Explorer Sheet 216. A multi distance running event along the River Severn between Ironbridge and Bridgnorth on 21 February 2026. Distances range from 9 miles to 37 miles with 9.4 mile laps and aid stations every 4.7 miles.

The Castle 2 Castle #Ultra is a 32-mile running challenge connecting Welshpool to Chirk. Starting at Powis Estate, the route mixes flat paths with gentle inclines. Finishers are rewarded with a commemorative plate at Caffi Wylfa.
