The Piece of Cake Trail Run

The event takes place on 11 July 2026 and is organised by How Hard Can It Be Events at Carding Mill Valley, Church Stretton, Shropshire. Distances on offer are:

  • 10K
  • 13.1 miles (half marathon)
  • 26.2 miles (marathon)

Entry fees range from £30 to £42. Age minimums apply: marathon entrants must be at least 18 on the event date, half marathon entrants at least 17, and 10K entrants at least 16.

Course and logistics

The route runs on the Shropshire Hills and The Long Mynd and crosses National Trust land, with start and finish in Carding Mill Valley near the National Trust tea rooms. The course will be fully marked and a GPX file is provided as a backup. Marathon entries are subject to a seven-hour cut-off and a first-lap completion deadline to continue on a second lap. Runners are required to carry a rucksack with at least 500 ml of water and a basic first aid kit.

Facilities and services include well stocked aid stations on the course, marshals on course, and a finisher medal included in the price. There is a cake competition at the event. There is a parking charge of £6 per vehicle payable by coins or by calling the number on the parking machines; Church Stretton train station is within about a mile of the venue. A tough 18 km fell race with 1300 m ascent around Carding Mill Valley, run to FRA rules. Competitors must carry full kit, record checkpoints with an SI dibber and meet strict cut-offs; event proceeds support local charities.

A multi distance running event along the River Severn between Ironbridge and Bridgnorth on 21 February 2026. Distances range from 9 miles to 37 miles with 9.4 mile laps and aid stations every 4.7 miles.

A 9.5km off road race at Kinver Edge and The Rock Houses on 22 February 2026, run as two laps around local trails. Limited to 100 runners, entry fee £18; medals for all and prizes for the top three in each gender.

The Castle 2 Castle #Ultra is a 32-mile running challenge connecting Welshpool to Chirk. Starting at Powis Estate, the route mixes flat paths with gentle inclines. Finishers are rewarded with a commemorative plate at Caffi Wylfa.
