South Downs & Arundel Winter Trails

Heyshott, United Kingdom • 18 Jan 2026

Event overview

Arundel & SDW Winter Trails is a point-to-point trail running event organised by BigFeat Events on 18 January 2026. The courses run on the South Downs Way between Heyshott and the town of Arundel, finishing at Arundel Lido. Two distances are offered:

  • Marathon - £52
  • 15 Mile - £40

Canicross entries are not accepted.

Course, kit and logistics

Both courses are off-road and fully marked. The 15 Mile route leaves the South Downs Way to run along the River Arun before the finish near Arundel Castle. The marathon stays on the South Downs Way longer, includes river sections, fields and hills, and passes a Gurkha Suspension bridge before joining the River Arun toward the finish.

Runners collect race bibs from BigFeat HQ at Heyshott Village Hall on the morning of the event. A bag drop tent will be available at each start and bags will be transported to the finish. Cut-off times are 7 hours for the marathon and 4 hours for the 15 Mile.

Coaches transport runners from the finish location at Arundel Lido to the start in Heyshott. Park-and-ride is required: runners are asked to park in the Pay & Display carpark at the finish and use coach transport; there is no parking at the start but drop-offs can be arranged. Coach transport is offered for £10.

Mandatory kit includes at least 500 ml of fluid and clothing appropriate for winter conditions. A waterproof jacket, gloves and hat are mandatory. Runners are advised to download the GPX file of the route onto a watch or mobile device. There is an option to have a tree planted instead of a finishers medal.
