The Shere 42k, 21k & 10k Multi Terrain Event

The Shere event is a multi-distance trail running event held in the Surrey Hills, starting and finishing at the cricket pavilion on Shere Recreation Ground. It is organised by Surrey Trek and Run and takes place on clearly marked routes with marshals at key points and chip timing.

Distances include:

  • 10k: 123 m ascent, woodland and undulating trails, one drink station
  • 21k: follows same start as the 42k, includes North Downs and Ranmore, 543 m elevation, three drink stations
  • 42k: trail marathon with 1,300 m elevation, passes Leith Hill, Holmbury Hill, Pitch Hill, St Martha’s Hill and Newlands Corner, six drink stations

All finishers receive medals and free buffs. Spot prizes and awards are presented to race winners. The event village features brands such as Instinct, La Sportiva, Topo, Leki, VJ Shoes, Ultimate Direction and Knockaround Sunglasses. Morning coffee, pastries and post-race food are available at the venue. Free parking is provided for runners and spectators.

Entries are available on the day for cash payment, though medals may not be guaranteed for late entries. GPX files for each race are provided and fortnightly Sunday morning training runs cover sections of the routes in the lead up to the event.
