Multi-Terrain Running in the Surrey Hills
The Shere 42k, 21k, and 10k are trail running events held in the Surrey Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. All races start and finish at the cricket pavilion on the Shere Recreation Ground. The event provides a variety of distances across undulating trails, woodland, and local landmarks.
Participants can choose from three distinct distances:
- 10k: A route with a 123m ascent that passes through woodland and includes one drink station.
- 21k: This course reaches an elevation of 543m and covers sections of the North Downs and Ranmore, with three drink stations.
- 42k: A trail marathon with 1,300m of total elevation, passing viewpoints such as Leith Hill, Holmbury Hill, Pitch Hill, St Martha’s Hill, and Newlands Corner. It includes seven drink stations.
The event is chip-timed, and routes are marked with marshals stationed at key points. All finishers receive a medal and a buff. On-site facilities include an Event Village with various sport brand displays, morning coffee, pastries, and post-race food. Free parking is available for both runners and spectators at the venue.
Registration takes place at the Pavilion. While participants can enter on the day using cash, medals are not guaranteed for late entries. To assist with preparation, fortnightly training runs are organized on Sunday mornings leading up to the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
