Vanguard Way Marathon + Half

The event offers two distance options starting from Coombe Rd, Croydon (CR0 5RA) on 2 August 2026. Distances:

  • Marathon - 26.2 miles (out 13.1 mile and back 13.1 mile)
  • Half Marathon - 13.1 miles

Both routes follow part of the Vanguard Way national trail. The full Vanguard Way runs 66 miles from East Croydon to Newhaven and passes through Surrey, Kent and East Sussex. The course passes parkland, woodland, open country and several local landmarks, including Selsdon Wood Nature Reserve and the church of St. Mary the Virgin at Farleigh.

Route highlights include an ascent to the North Downs where the trail reaches about 260 metres above sea level, the Nore Hill Chalk Pinnacle, a crossing of the Greenwich Meridian, proximity to Titsey Place, a footbridge over the M25 and wooded slopes of the Greensand Ridge near Limpsfield.

Directions and map files are available that give routes from north to south and from south to north.
