North Downs 50 Ultra Challenge

The North Downs 50 Ultra Challenge is a trail event based at a Guildford basecamp with looped and point to point route options on the North Downs Way and surrounding Surrey hills. The event offers multiple distances and route elevations, with support services and on-course facilities.

  • 50 km loop : Loseley Park start and finish; ~830 m elevation
  • 25 km loop : Loseley Park start and finish; ~530 m elevation
  • 10 km loop : Loseley Park start and finish; ~230 m elevation
  • ~24 km route : Loseley Park to Milton Court near Dorking; ~600 m elevation

Support includes covered rest stops roughly every 12.5 km with major stops at about 25 km and 50 km. Rest stops provide food, hot and cold drinks, medical provision, massage and self help blister supplies. The route is fully signed with GPS tracking available through an event app and a timing system that logs progress at rest stops.

There are camping and parking options, shuttle buses and transfers from nearby stations, a Solo Start option, a dedicated Ultra March category with qualifying targets for medals, and a Trailblazerz category for faster runners with time targets. Forest Five is a mile race in a three race 2026 series run by Orion Harriers, with events on June 6, July 4 and August 1. The August 1 race is Orion's ELVIS fixture and includes individual and team trophies plus series aggregate awards.

A trail marathon and half along part of the Vanguard Way, an undulating out and back route with varied South East England scenery.

A volunteer run 10 mile multi terrain race across the South Downs with mile markers, two water stations and precision chip timing. Finishers get a unique medal and there is a free kids fun run plus homemade cakes at the pavilion.

A timed Friday run on a 5.3 km out and back towpath loop along the River Thames. The event is promoted as a ten pound charity entry for Rays of Sunshine and includes a double sided finisher medal.
