About the race
The North Downs 50 Ultra Challenge is a looped trail event on Sat 31 JULY 2027 based from a Guildford basecamp in the North Downs, Surrey. The main route is a 50 km loop that uses sections of the North Downs Way and tracks through Surrey hills and surrounding countryside, with views to the south. Participants may walk, jog, or run and can choose shorter loop options.

Support and logistics include covered rest stops roughly every 12.5 km, with larger stops at about 25 km and 50 km. Snack stops are provided every 12.5 km and a meal is provided every 25 km; hot drinks, water, and energy drinks are available at all stops. Rest stops have medical areas, toilets, changing rooms, and baggage pickup. A team of medics, paramedics, podiatrists, and masseuses are available along the route and at rest stops.
The route is fully signed with arrows and glow-sticks for night sections and is supported by GPS tracking and a mobile app that provides maps, training guides, on-day information, and real-time tracking. Event extras include camping, shuttle transfers and parking, a solo start option, and corporate team packages. Finishers receive a medal, a finisher’s t-shirt, a glass of fizz, and a finisher meal.
