North Downs 50 Ultra Challenge : Guildford, Surrey

The North Downs 50 is a looped trail event based at a Guildford basecamp with start and finish at Loseley Park for the main loop. The route follows sections of the North Downs Way and Surrey hills, with varied terrain and scenic views to the south. The organiser describes 50 km, 25 km and 10 km loop options and a separate ~24 km point-to-point option finishing near Dorking.

Distances and approximate elevation:

  • 50 km loop about 830 m elevation
  • 25 km loop about 530 m elevation
  • 10 km loop about 230 m elevation

Support includes covered rest stops approximately every 12.5 km, with larger stops at roughly 25 km and 50 km offering seating, toilets, medical areas and baggage pickup. Food and drink are included at snack stops and meal points; hot drinks, water and energy drinks are provided and lighter options are available for runners. The event provides medical, podiatry and massage support at rest stops and along the route. The route is signed with waymarkers and GPS tracking via a mobile app. A timing system scans progress at rest stops.

Additional options and services include an Ultra March category for walkers aiming for time targets, a Trailblazerz category for faster competitive runners, a Solo Start option, camping packages, shuttle transfers and parking. A weekend trail running festival in West Sussex offering 50 km and marathon options plus shorter runs and a 2 km family Flower Trail, with campsite and glamping, marked single-lap courses and stocked aid stations.

A weekend running festival at Blackland Farm on 18–19 July 2026 offering 1-mile lap formats: 24-hour and 12-hour solos, team relays, plus P24 and P12 paced challenges. Off-road course, camping included and limited Bell Tent upgrades.

Pretty Muddy 5k at Tilgate Park in Crawley is an obstacle course around Tilgate Lake with climbs, crawls and slides. The event raises funds for Cancer Research UK and offers on-site toilets, refreshments and parking.
