Woldingham Marathon

The event offers a full marathon and a half marathon, both run on a largely trail and rural road course that starts and finishes at Woldingham School. The half is a single 13.1 mile lap; the full marathon covers the same lap twice.

Distances

  • Full Marathon, 26.2 miles (42.2 km)
  • Half Marathon, 13.1 miles (21.1 km)

The 13.1 mile lap is an out-and-back style route that uses private roads, footpaths and sections of the North Downs Way and Vanguard Way. The course heads from the school along a private road through a green valley toward the North Downs Way, then moves onto wooded trail sections and open fields with viewing areas. Runners follow the NDW and descend steps to a small viewing area, pass a chalk pit and Chalkpit Lane, then take a short steep climb onto the Vanguard Way for an out-and-back section. The route continues across The Ridge, along trail paths and field edges, passing Knights Garden Centre and sections of Limpsfield Road, then down Plantation Lane to the front of Woldingham Golf Club. The final section returns via park and woodland paths, crossing Woldingham Road and running under the railway bridge back to the school.

The event is UK Athletics affiliated. Finishers receive a medal and a post-race goody bag. Entry terms note that refunds are not available, though the organiser may allow deferral when the event is at least five weeks away. Past results, photos and video exist for previous editions.
