Trail Running in the Surrey Hills

The Farnham Pilgrim Marathon is a trail running event held in the Surrey Hills, organized by The Rotary Club of Farnham Weyside and the Farnham Town Running Club. The course follows historical paths including the Pilgrims Way and North Downs Way, offering a route through ancient landscapes and rural scenery. Proceeds from the event are donated to local charities.

Participants can choose from two distinct distances:

  • Marathon
  • Half Marathon

The marathon course features a variety of landmarks, including five churches, an abbey, two manor houses, and various rivers, old mills, and vineyards. At the halfway point, runners reach St. Martha’s Church after passing across Pewley Down and the One Mile Path. The terrain consists of trail paths that can become muddy depending on weather conditions.

The event village is located at Myrtle’s Courtyard on the Hampton Estate in Seale. This area serves as the central hub for the race, providing on-site parking for participants. The event village includes food and drink options as well as a massage area. All race numbers must be collected on the day of the event from the main tent at the start and finish location. The races are chip timed by Sports Timing Solutions, and water stations are positioned at strategic points throughout both the full and half marathon routes. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
