Sole Survivor Trail Race

The Sole Survivor Trail Race takes place on July 18, 2026. Registration is open. Registrations completed by June 21 receive a t-shirt; registrations after that date will not receive a t-shirt.

Distances offered:

  • 2.5 km run/walk: intended for young children; no aid station, water and treats at finish.
  • 5 km run/walk: one lap then forested trails with hills and switchbacks; one water station.
  • 10 km run: forested trails with uphill and downhill sections; two aid stations.

Courses follow forested trails around Pass Powderkeg Ski Hill, including trails along the bottom of the hill and routes that traverse the slope. All distances start and finish at Pete's Park (124th Street and 18th Avenue, Blairmore).

This is a trail race; strollers are not allowed on the course and pets are not permitted. Aid stations are provided on the longer distances and water and treats are available at the finish for the 2.5 km. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.

A mountain trail ultra in Fernie BC covering about 50 km with 2,700 m of ascent and varied single track. An optional 15 km Headwall Hustle is available the following day for a combo entry.

A 15 km trail race at Fernie Alpine Resort that climbs Cedar Bowl to the Headwall then drops through Timber Bowl. Part of the Elk Valley Ultra, it requires an RCR waiver and has a 200-runner limit with adult and youth categories.

An alpine ultramarathon at Castle Mountain Resort in Alberta covering 200 mile, a new 100 km option, and relay teams. The course goes through remote backcountry on single and double track with checkpoints every 20 to 40 km.

A 28 km mountain trail event at Castle Mountain Resort offering solo and three-leg relay options. The course covers summits, alpine valley terrain and variable September weather.
