Event overview

The Headwall Hustle is a 15 km trail race held in Fernie, British Columbia, at Fernie Alpine Resort and 5339 Ski Hill Road. The route is part of the Elk Valley Ultra and follows trails through Cedar Bowl up to the Headwall, then across into Timber Bowl for a steep descent to the finish. The course was created by the event founder.

Registration and categories

Registration opens January 20, 2026. The 15 km race is limited to 200 racers. Adult entry fees vary by date: $75 (Jan 20-31), $85 (Feb 1-May 31), and $105 (June 1-July 20). Youth entry is listed at $75 for the 19 category. Youth entrants must have a parent or guardian contact the Race Director before registering if they wish to compete.

Racing categories include Male, Female and Non-Binary, and age groups (19), 20-49, and 50+, with prizing in each.

Rules, services and weekend schedule

All racers must complete an online RCR Event Waiver before registering and provide an RCR Event Release Agreement ID that matches the name on their race account. Entries may be transferable through coordination with the Race Director. Race weekend includes a compulsory check-in and waiver signing on the Friday before the race. Brunch, awards and race services such as a fully stocked aid station, finish-line brunch buffet, swag bag, category trophies, and free racer photo downloads are provided.
