The Headwall Hustle is a 15 km trail race organized by Stag Leap Running Co. at Fernie Alpine Resort. It is presented as a segment of the parent Elk Valley Ultra and includes a youth category for participants under 19.

The route climbs through Cedar Bowl to the Headwall, then traverses into Timber Bowl for a steep descent to the finish.

Registration and categories: the 15 km field is limited to 200 racers. Categories include Male, Female and Non-Binary, and age groups <19, 19-49, and 50+. All racers must complete the online RCR event waiver before registering and have an RCR Event Release Agreement ID that matches the name used on their registration account. Registration closes on Wednesday, July 15.

Fees and combo options: Adult early bird $100, regular $120 (regular pricing begins March 1). Youth (<19) early bird $80, regular $100. Combo pricing for both the Elk Valley Ultra and Headwall Hustle is offered with separate adult and youth rates.

Event services and logistics: check-in options are provided on the days before the race at locations designated by the organizer. Entries may be transferred through the Race Director. Included amenities list a swag bag, Stag Leap sticker, technical socks, finish-line brunch buffet, category trophies by Wild Wolves, free racer photo downloads, and a fully stocked aid station. Trail runs nearby

Sole Survivor Trail Race on July 18, 2026 features 2.5 km, 5 km and 10 km forest trail courses at Pete's Park in Blairmore. Aid stations vary by distance and strollers and pets are not permitted.

A mountain trail ultra in Fernie BC covering about 50 km with 2,700 m of ascent and varied single track. An optional 15 km Headwall Hustle is available the following day for a combo entry.

A loop vertical race at Pass Powderkeg in Crowsnest Pass. Runners make four lift line ascents to reach 1,000 m of gain over about 9.75 km, with a single aid station at the base.
