Slawit Snowstorm Shuffle

The event starts and finishes in the village of Slaithwaite and uses a stretch of the Huddersfield narrow gauge canal noted for its undulating towpath and many locks. The route extends out to Tunnel End, which includes a 3.5 mile tunnel under the Pennines. Canal boat trips and kayaking are possible on certain days on this canal.

Distances offered:

  • 5k
  • 10k
  • Half marathon
  • Marathon (two lap half marathon route)

The event is licensed by the Trail Running Association and has a six and a half hour cut off time. Feed and water stations are placed on the course, normally around every three miles, and the event encourages a cupless approach so participants should use a reusable cup or bottle. Marshals are present to provide encouragement and assistance. There may be unmarshalled road crossings and large over ear headphones are discouraged; bone conduction or one in one out earphones are suggested if required.

Registration, toilets and bag drop are located at Slaithwaite Community Centre on Bank Gate. The start and finish are on the canal just outside Waves. Parking near the start is very limited; car parks and surrounding streets in the town are available and there is a train station in Slaithwaite. Transfers and deferrals can be self-served within 72 hours. Finishers receive a bespoke medal, drinks and edible items. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
