Rainow 5

The Rainow 5 is a trail and fell race held in early May on the edge of the Peak District. The route covers about 5 miles (8 km) on footpaths and tracks, taking in White Nancy and the Kerridge ridge, and includes roughly 230 m of climb. The course runs through local paths and ridge-top sections.

The event is organised by a club member with support from Macclesfield Harriers and is licensed under FRA rules with associated insurance. Entry is by pre-entry for the year shown and places are limited. Participants must be 16 years or older. Field sizes typically range from 250 to 300 runners; recent entries reached 285 finishers.

Proceeds from the race are donated to local community projects and charities, including local mountain rescue, wildlife and footpath restoration groups. The event traditionally offers low-key category prizes and provides teas and cakes after the race, with a nearby pub used by some attendees for post-race refreshments.

The race has a documented history dating back to 1989 when a longer original route was used before the current shorter route was introduced. Past results and race reports are maintained for multiple years. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
