Green Gateways : event overview

Green Gateways is a trail running event on Saturday 17 January 2026 that uses the Green Gateways Greenway around Leeds and much of the Meanwood Valley Trail. Routes are substantially off-road while passing close to city-centre parks and green spaces. Distances offered are:

  • 34.1 miles

Climb for the distances is listed as 1,535 / 2,425 / 3,435 feet respectively. The event awards ITRA points (1/1/2) and counts for UTMB qualification (Q20K/Q20K/Q50K). The minimum age is 18 and the event limits entries to 200. Entries close before race day and on-the-day entries are not accepted.

Course and logistics

Registration is at Otley Cricket Club (Cross Green, Otley, LS21 1RB). Parking is provided at Craftsman Tools car park (Bremner Street off A659 Pool Road, LS21 1JD). The route GPX files and a route description are available provisionally online and the final GPX will be emailed to entrants with final instructions. All ultramarathon entrants receive a tracker; half-marathon and 20-mile runners can hire a tracker. Routes will be taped/flagged the week before the race but participants are advised not to rely solely on tape for navigation. There are three checkpoints; the 34-mile route visits CP1, CP2 and CP3, the 20-mile route visits CP1 and CP3, and the half marathon visits CP3. Dogs and safety support runners are permitted under event rules. A minimum kit list is required (example items: waterproof jacket, fluids, cup, survival/bivvy bag, whistle, hard copy map, hat, gloves, personal first aid; head torch required for the 34-mile course).
