Event Overview

The Punk Panther Ripon Stinger is a trail running event starting and finishing in Studley Roger, near the historic city of Ripon. The route mainly follows the Ripon Rowel waymarked trail. It visits wooded valleys and sites such as the Fountains Abbey and Studley Water Gardens world heritage site, and passes through the River Skell's Valley of the Seven Bridges. For the 2026 event, the ultra distance includes the Valley of the Seven Bridges.

Distances and Terrain

The event offers three distances:

  • 14.2 miles with 743 feet of climb
  • 23 miles with 1688 feet of climb
  • 35.1 miles with 3456 feet of climb

The 35.1-mile ultramarathon qualifies for UTMB Q50K and offers 2 ITRA points.

Course and Checkpoints

The course follows the Ripon Rowel route. Checkpoints provide water, soft drinks, crisps, chocolate, and other snacks, with vegan and gluten free options available. They are located at North Stainley, Masham (ultra only), and Skelding. Support crews are permitted at checkpoints except for Skelding.

Event Facilities

Registration and the finish are at Studley Roger Village Hall. Parking is available at Studley Lane for a £2 donation. Every finisher receives a medal and an event T-shirt, with an option to opt out. Homemade hot food, including vegan and gluten free options, hot drinks, and snacks are provided at the finish.

Additional Information

Ultramarathon entrants are supplied with trackers; participants in other distances can hire them. A mandatory kit list applies to all distances. Trail runs nearby

A PECO Cross Country League race at Roundhay Park, Leeds, on an undulating 4.5 to 5.0 mile course. Advance online entry for affiliated club members is £7 and includes remaining league races and end of season events.

Choose a 25-mile or 12-mile route through the Yorkshire Dales, open to walkers and runners. It starts from Cracoe Village Hall and includes checkpoints with refreshments. The event must be completed within 10 hours.

A classic, challenging fell race on Ilkley Moor, organized since 1990. This 8 km AS category course features steep, rocky terrain and requires full kit. Junior races add to the event day.

A chip timed 10 kilometre multi terrain race in Ripon with a separate 1 kilometre fun run for all ages. Entry fees vary for affiliated and unaffiliated runners and places are limited.
