Event Overview
The Peterson Ridge Rumble is a trail running event offering three distances: 40 miles, a trail marathon, and 20 miles. All races start and finish at Sisters Middle School in Sisters, Oregon. The event uses the Peterson Ridge and Metolius-Windigo multi-use trails.
Course Details
The courses are mostly trail with some dirt road sections. The 40-mile route features gentle uphill and downhill sections, with a total elevation gain of about 2,700 feet. The trail marathon shares much of the 40-mile course and has about 1,600 feet of gain. The 20-mile course is gentle uphill for the first half and gentle downhill for the second half, with about 1,200 feet of gain and views of Central Oregon Cascade peaks from the ridge.
Aid stations are provided along all courses, approximately every 3-7 miles. Drop bags are allowed at specific aid stations for the 40-mile race. Crew access is restricted to designated aid stations for the 40-mile and marathon distances and is not allowed for the 20-mile race.
Registration and Logistics
Registration is capped at 500 total entrants across all distances. Entry fees increase over time, with the lowest prices available until February 1. There are no refunds, transfers to other runners, or transfers to other years. Packet pickup is available the day before the race at Blazin Saddles bike shop in Sisters and on race morning at the Sisters Middle School Field House.
Post-Race and Awards
A post-race meal is provided, featuring burritos, bakery treats, and ice cream. An optional off-site gathering at Left Coast Lodge is available from 12-4 p.m., offering amenities like a cold plunge, hot tub, and massage. Awards are given to top overall, masters, and veteran runners. All finishers receive a pair of finisher's socks.
The event is a fundraiser for the Sisters High School Cross Country team and makes a donation to the Sisters Trails Alliance. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
