Haulin' Aspen : Bend, Oregon trail races

Haulin' Aspen offers three all trail distances that begin and end at Wanoga Sno-Park, located at about 5,500 feet elevation in the Deschutes National Forest near Bend, Oregon. Courses use single track and forest service roads and pass through rolling, wooded terrain with scenic views of the surrounding Cascades.

The full marathon features multiple elevation changes, including a reported 700 foot climb between mile 21.5 and mile 24. The marathon course includes six aid stations, with two stations passed twice for a total of eight aid opportunities; approximate station mile markers are 2.4, 4.7, 9.7, 12.7, 15.3, 19.1, 21.3 and 24. There is a five mile gap between two aid stations on the marathon route. The half marathon has three aid stations, with one passed twice for four aid opportunities (approximate miles 2.4, 4.7, 7.6, 10.9). The 6.5 mile course has two aid stations (approximate miles 2.1 and 4.4).

Trails may be dusty and rocky and temperatures can be cool in the morning then rise during the day; participants are advised to plan for variable footing and to carry water and energy products if desired. Packet pick up is handled in downtown Bend at Footzone and there is a post race celebration at Wanoga Sno Park. The event supports Bethlehem Inn, an emergency shelter serving the local community.
