Run The Rock is a trail running event held on November 7-8, 2026, at Smith Rock State Park and the surrounding Crooked River National Grasslands near Terrebonne and Bend, Oregon. The event features loop-style courses with views of the Cascade Range, including peaks like Mount Hood and Mount Bachelor. The routes pass by the rock climbing areas of Smith Rock State Park.
Distances
The event offers three distances:
- 50K: A course covering many trails in the park, including Misery Ridge and areas near Monkey Face. It includes a loop around Gray Butte. The course has approximately 5,500 feet of elevation gain and loss, with 85% on single-track trails. There are four aid stations.
- 25K: A newer course for 2026 featuring Smith Rock and Gray Butte, including a climb up Burma Road. It has approximately 3,300 feet of elevation gain and two aid stations.
- Half Marathon: A course with views of the Cascade Range and Monkey Face. It features approximately 2,500 feet of climbing over 13.1 miles, with 90% on single-track trails. There is one aid station.
Registration and Policies
Registration opens on April 1, 2026. A 25% discount is offered to veterans and active military members with valid ID, which must be requested via email before registering. The event's refund policy states there are no transfers to other runners. Cancellations more than 30 days before the race may receive a 50% credit for the following year's event. No credits or refunds are given for cancellations within 30 days of the race. If the event is canceled by the organizers, no refunds, credits, or rollovers will be issued.
