Overview

The Punk Panther Dales Dazzler is a trail running event based in the historic market town of Skipton. The race features a variety of distances that traverse the surrounding landscape, including sections of the Pennine Way and the Dales Way. Depending on the chosen distance, the route may lead runners through locations such as Gargrave, Malham Tarn, Arncliffe, Starbotton, Kettlewell, Grassington, and Burnsall, before returning to Skipton.

Participants can choose from four distinct distances:

  • Half Marathon (approx. 13-14 miles) with 1,500 feet of climb.
  • 20 Miles with 2,200 feet of climb.
  • Ultra 34 Miles with 4,200 feet of climb.
  • Ultra 50 Miles with 7,600 feet of climb.

Logistics and Safety

The event is open to individuals aged 18 and older. The 34-mile and 50-mile ultramarathon distances provide participants with trackers, while trail race runners have the option to hire one. Checkpoints are positioned along the course providing water, soda, and various snacks, including vegan and gluten-free options.

All participants are required to carry a specific kit regardless of their race distance. Required items include a waterproof jacket with taped seams, a survival or bivvy bag, a whistle, a mobile phone, and a hard copy of the map or route description. A head torch is also mandatory for those participating in the 50-mile course.

Finishers receive a medal and an event T-shirt. Hot food is served at the finish line in Skipton. The event has a maximum capacity of 200 entrants. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.

Experience a 9.2 km night run up Pendle Hill and through Ogden Clough to support the local mountain rescue team. This marshalled event features steep climbs and stream crossings for runners aged 18 and over.

Experience a historic fell race at Pendle Hill with routes for both seniors and juniors. This event features a challenging 4.5 mile senior course and multiple youth distances starting from Barley Village Hall.

Take on Trunce 1 on Mon 30 Mar 2026 at Oxspring Playing Field in the Peak District, a testing 6.2 km fell course with 190 m climb. Entry is £3 on the day and juniors can join a 3 km race for £1.
