Event Overview

The Punk Panther Dales Dazzler is a trail running event based in the market town of Skipton. The race offers a variety of distances passing through several notable locations in the Yorkshire Dales. Participants can choose between four distinct route options:

  • 13 miles (Half Marathon)
  • 20 miles
  • 34 miles (Ultramarathon)
  • 50 miles (Ultramarathon)

The terrain features significant elevation changes, with the 50 mile route including approximately 7,600 feet of climbing. The course starts in Skipton and moves west toward the Pennine Way at Pinhaw Beacon. Depending on the chosen distance, the route may follow the Pennine Way through Gargrave and Malham Tarn, before joining the Dales Way at Starbotton and returning via Kettlewell, Grassington, and Burnsall.

Logistics and Safety

Registration takes place at St. Andrew's Church in Skipton. All ultramarathon participants are provided with a tracker for safety and live monitoring, while runners in the shorter trail races have the option to hire one. A mandatory kit list is in effect for all distances, including items such as a waterproof jacket with taped seams, survival bag, whistle, and mobile phone.

Checkpoints are positioned along the routes to provide water, energy bars, and snacks, including vegan and gluten-free options. The event is open to participants aged 18 and older, and runners are permitted to participate with dogs according to specific event rules. Finishers receive a medal and a t-shirt, with hot food provided at the finish line. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
