Northumberland Coastal Run 2026

The Northumberland Coastal Run, organised by Alnwick Harriers, takes place on 26 July 2026 at Beadnell Harbour and finishes at Alnmouth Estuary. Entry is limited to 1000 participants. The event is fully marshalled and has first aid support along the route.

The route is approximately 14 miles long and runs through an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty along the Northumberland coastal path, keeping as close to the coast as possible. Surfaces include sand, road and trail in the sequence: sand, road, sand, trail, road and finishing on sand. The course is unmarked and organisers describe it as challenging; there is a three hour 30 minute cut-off for safety because of the tide. The race is not suitable for wheelchairs, animals are not allowed, and minimum age of entry is 18.

Entry fees are £25 for UKA/British Athletics affiliated runners and £27 for non-affiliated runners. An administration fee of 5% applies to each order. There are no refunds; deferrals are considered individually by the race director. A unisex T-shirt is available for £12.50 or the T-shirt value can be donated to North Northumberland Hospice Care. The T-shirt and bus ticket options, and transfers, must be arranged by 14 June 2026. A bus transfer to the Beadnell start is available for £6 if pre-purchased; this does not provide return transport. Parking at Beadnell and Alnmouth is very limited; a designated car park is at the bus collection point at Hipsburn School.

There will be a prize giving after the event and uncollected prizes will be posted. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
