Mountain Masochist Trail Run is a long-standing mountain ultratrail in Montebello, Virginia, offering 100K, 50M, and 50K distances. The course begins and ends at Montebello Campground and, in recent iterations, is run in reverse toward the Mount Pleasant Loop, using a mix of old and new trails. Runners traverse dirt and gravel roads in the National Forest, spend substantial time on mountains and single-track, and finish with a downhill stretch of several miles into Route 56 and the campground. Known as one of the East’s best trail races, MMTR showcases Blue Ridge fall foliage, with pre/post-race briefings and a post-race meal after more than four decades of tradition.
