The Mountain Masochist Trail Run is a trail running event in Montebello, Virginia offering multiple distances. Distances available include:

The course begins and ends at Montebello Campground and follows the historical MMTR routing run in reverse toward the Mount Pleasant Loop. Runners use a mix of old and new trails, then travel southward on dirt and gravel roads through the National Forest. With course changes this year, the route includes more single track and more time in the mountains with less time on gravel roads.
Near Mount Pleasant the route follows the Old Hotel Trail and old jeep roads toward Long Mountain Wayside. After Long Mountain aid station the second half includes dirt and old logging roads plus several miles of single track. The last aid station at Porters Ridge is followed by a roughly 3.5 mile descent on Route 56 to the finish at Montebello Campground. The course traverses areas in the Blue Ridge around peak fall foliage.
Site specific camping reservations are available through the event registration system. Cabin rentals remain handled through the Montebello Campground. Training runs and trail work are scheduled for October with dates to be determined. A pre race briefing in Montebello is held and a post race meal is provided for finishers.
