Nasty 9 Trail Run, Brushy Hills : Lexington, VA
The Nasty 9 Trail Run is a competitive trail race held on the Brushy Hills watershed, a 600 acre tract on the outskirts of Lexington in the Shenandoah Valley. All courses run entirely on single-track trails developed and maintained by the Friends of Brushy Hills, a volunteer group affiliated with the Rockbridge Area Conservation Council.
Race distances include:
- 9 Miler - over 2000 feet of vertical gain
- 4 Miler - about 500 feet of climbing
The event serves as a fundraiser for the Friends of Brushy Hills and for the track and cross-country programs at Rockbridge County High School, Parry McClure High School, and Maury River Middle School. Race fees are listed as $60 for the 9 Miler and $45 for the 4 Miler, with a student discount available.
Packet pickup and late registration take place the Friday before the race at Lex Running Shop, and packet pickup is also available at race headquarters on race day. Registered participants receive a race shirt, post-race food, and finishers and age-group awards.
