Run the Chessie
The event on November 7, 2026 is held on the Chessie Nature Trail in Virginia, which parallels the Maury River and connects Lexington with Buena Vista. The trail is a smooth, generally flat gravel and grass surface about 10 feet wide and follows a very gentle grade. Runners pass farmland, limestone cliffs, small caves, bamboo stands, and river frontage where wildlife may be visible.

Courses are USATF certified and the marathon is a Boston qualifier. The marathon route remains entirely on the trail without road crossings. Aid stations are located at the start/finish, all turnarounds, and near the South River bridge, offering water, Gatorade, fruit, and snacks; refill stations for reusable containers will also be available. Porta-potties and a bag drop are provided at key locations.
Race services include chip timing, custom finisher medals, race shirts varying by distance, posted online results, and post-race food such as pizza and pancakes. A virtual option is available from October 1 to November 7 with mailed amenities; virtual participants are not eligible for awards. Registration is accepted online only; transfers and deferrals are permitted until October 31, 2026 and refunds are not offered. Walkers are permitted in the 5K, 10K, and Half Marathon.
