Midsummer Mortimer Trail 2026
The Midsummer Mortimer Trail on 20 June 2026 finishes at Ludlow Castle in Ludlow, Shropshire. The event comprises two self navigating trail routes that follow sections of the Mortimer Trail through the Marches of England, passing forests, limestone tops, pastures and a succession of hills and ridges.
Available distances:
- Approximately 30 miles, Kington Ultra from Kington to Ludlow Castle
- Approximately 14 miles, Croft Half from Aymestrey to Ludlow Castle
The Kington Ultra is a mixed trail, field and road route that crosses the valleys of the rivers Arrow, Lugg and Teme and passes landmarks such as Wapley hill fort, Croft Ambrey, Orleton Common, the High Vinnals and Mary Knoll Valley, while meandering through several villages. The Croft Half covers a shorter section of similar terrain and also moves quickly from Herefordshire into Shropshire before finishing at Ludlow Castle.
Estimated durations provided by the organiser indicate walk and run time ranges for each route. Entry is restricted to participants aged 18 to 98. Entry fees are shown as £55 for the Kington Ultra and £35 for the Croft Half.
