Midsummer Mortimer Trail

The Midsummer Mortimer Trail takes place on Saturday 20th June 2026 along the Mortimer Trail between Kington, Herefordshire and Ludlow, Shropshire. The event comprises two mixed terrain runs on public trails, forest tracks and some roads, following ridges, hills and valleys in the England and Wales borderland.

Routes include a longer ultra route that begins opposite the Burton Hotel in Kington and a shorter event that follows the final section of the ultra route and starts at the Riverside Inn, Aymestrey.

  • ~30 miles Kington Ultra - multi terrain trail, forest and road
  • Half Croft Half - follows the last half of the ultra route

The course passes through extensive forests, limestone tops and gentle pastures across the Marches of England. The route runs through country that was dominated in medieval times by the Mortimer family, reflecting local historic landscape patterns.
