The Midsummer Mortimer Trail on 20 June 2026 offers two self-navigated trail routes that traverse the Marches of England and finish at Ludlow Castle. Both routes include mixed trail, field and road sections and pass through forested areas, limestone tops and open pastures.

The Kington Ultra begins in Kington, Herefordshire, soon enters Shropshire and follows ridges, hills and valleys. Notable features on the route include crossings of the River Arrow, River Lugg and River Teme, Wapley hill fort, Croft Ambrey, Orleton Common, the High Vinnals and Mary Knoll Valley. Estimated times are around 5 to 9 hours for running and 9 to 12 hours for walking. Entry fee for this distance is £55.

The Croft Half starts in Aymestrey, Herefordshire, and follows a shorter version of the same landscape into Ludlow. It includes some strenuous climbs and village sections. Estimated times are around 2 to 3 hours for running and 3 to 5 hours for walking. Entry fee for this distance is £35.
