Birmingham Black Country Half Marathon

The Birmingham Black Country Half Marathon is a point to point half marathon held along canal towpaths between Wolverhampton City Centre and Brindley Place in Birmingham. The route follows towpaths and waterside paths rather than roads.

The event is organised with seeded, time trial waves based on predicted finishing times. Entries include named categories for "Elites" and "Socials," covering a range of competitive intentions and personal goals. Underfoot conditions vary across the route, from gravel tracks and un-kept trails to smooth pavement.

The course is largely flat, with locks and bridges presenting the main inclines. The route includes the Coseley Tunnel, a 360 metre tunnel, and uses floating drink stations on canal barges positioned approximately every three miles to provide water and electrolyte.

Organisers note that occasional diversions can be required by land owners, for example the Canals and Rivers Trust, and these may sometimes be implemented at short notice. The finish is located in the heart of Brindley Place; all finishers receive a bespoke finishers medal and a goody bag. Brindley Place offers a number of pubs and bars near the finish.

Entry for the running category is listed at £40.00 plus a £2.00 fee. Entry closes 1st July 2027. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
