Event

The Mickleden Straddle is scheduled for 1 February 2026 at Langsett Barn, South Yorkshire. The race distance is 14.3 miles (23 km) with 2,431 ft (741 m) of ascent. It is a Category BL fell race over high-level moorland, with difficult terrain and potential for severe winter weather. Navigation skills are required.

Entry and rules

Pre-entry only; there are no entries on the day. Minimum age is 18 on race day. Entry fees are £12.00 for FRA members and £14.00 for non-members. Entries are non-refundable; transfers are accepted up until the stated deadline. There will be a mandatory kit check at registration as per FRA rules - NO KIT - NO RUN. GPS devices for navigation are not permitted. No dogs are allowed with runners. There is a cut-off time at CP1 (top of Cut Gate).

Course and facilities

Race headquarters is Langsett Barn (S36 4GY, GR 211005). The course is a single lap, hilly fell route. Facilities at the venue include toilets, changing facilities and a baggage store. There are no water stations, no distance markers and no showers. Limited parking is available at Langsett Barn and Langsett Flouch car parks, in the layby on the A616 and on side roads. Post-race refreshments and prize presentation will take place at Langsett Barn. Finishers receive a bottle of Rescue Ale in support of Woodhead Mountain Rescue Team.
