Ian Roberts Memorial

Marsden, United Kingdom • 15 Mar 2026

Event overview

The Ian Roberts Memorial Fell Race is organised by Holmfirth Harriers and takes place on 15 March 2026 at Marsden Cricket Club, Mount Road, Marsden, Huddersfield HD7 6NN. The course is 6.5 miles (10.3 km) with about 260 m (850 ft) of ascent. Entry is limited to 200 runners. Pre-entry fees are £7 for FRA members and £9 for non-members; on-the-day entry may be available with an extra £1 if the race has not reached its limit. Minimum age on the day is 18.

Course and logistics

The route runs over boggy, rough moorland on the edge of the Pennines and includes sections of the Pennine Way and the Standedge Trail, an ascent of Pule Hill, tussocky trods and catchwaters. The description notes several stream crossings and that a footbridge at the bottom of Butterly Clough has been removed, so runners should expect to get their feet wet at that point. Race organisers may require competitors to carry full FRA kit if conditions warrant; kit requirements will be posted at the cricket club and must be followed. Hot and cold drinks and post-race refreshments are available at the clubhouse. Runners are asked to remove muddy shoes before entering the clubhouse and not to clean footwear or socks in the sinks.
