The Ian Roberts Memorial Fell Race is a fell running event organized by Holmfirth Harriers Athletics Club. The race takes place on boggy, rough moorland on the edge of the Pennines.

Race Details

The course is a single distance of 6.5 miles (10.5 km) with an ascent of 260 m (850 ft). It is described as a partly-flagged route that includes sections of tussocky trod, catchwaters, paths like the Pennine Way and Standedge Trail, and a stream crossing in Butterly Clough where participants will get their feet wet. The route passes landmarks such as Swellands dam, Black Moss, and Pule Hill.

Practical Information

The race headquarters is at Marsden Cricket Club on Mount Road in Marsden. Registration opens there. The start line is about a 10-minute walk from registration. Participants must be at least 18 years old on the day of the race. Runners are advised to be prepared to carry full FRA kit as wintry conditions can occur. A request is made to keep the cricket club facilities clean by removing muddy shoes after the race.
