The 24 Hour Lions Roar

The 24 Hour Lions Roar is a multi-distance ultrarunning event held in Columbia, Missouri at Gans Creek Recreation Area. It offers individual and team-based timed races and a short youth run, all conducted on a looped course.

The main course uses a 2.5 mile loop that incorporates the D1 NCAA Cross Country Championship Course and adjacent soccer fields. The loop is described as well-groomed and suitable for repeated laps during daytime and nighttime running. A short 0.25 mile loop is used for the 1 Hour Cub Run aimed at younger participants.

Event formats include:

  • 24 hour Tag Team Championship
  • 24 hour solo event
  • 12 hour solo event
  • 6 hour solo event
  • 1 Hour Cub Run on a 0.25 mile loop

Awards and participant recognition are provided across categories. Solo awards include top two men and women in the 6, 12, and 24 hour solo events. Lifetime mileage recognition and top mileage awards are listed for men and women. Tag team winners each receive a custom championship belt. Additional milestone items include a custom belt buckle for completing 100 miles in 24 hours and a commemorative t-shirt for participants.

To guarantee a t-shirt in a chosen size, registration should be completed by April 1; later registrations receive leftover sizes on a first come, first served basis. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
