The 24 Hour Lions Roar
The 24 Hour Lions Roar is a multi-format ultrarunning event held in Columbia, Missouri at Gans Creek Recreation Area. The event uses a main loop course reported as a 2.5 mile circuit that incorporates the D1 NCAA Cross Country Championship Course and adjacent soccer fields. The loop is described as well-groomed and runner-friendly with modest elevation changes. There is also a 0.25 mile loop for the 1 Hour Cub Run aimed at younger participants.
Event formats include:
- 24 hour individual and tag team formats
- 12 hour individual event
- 6 hour individual event
- 1 Hour Cub Run for youth
The course layout supports spectating from the loop and the start and finish area. Awards are given across multiple categories: top finishers in solo 6, 12, and 24 hour events, lifetime mileage awards for top overall mileage, and recognition for tag team champions which includes a custom championship belt for each winning team member. Mileage milestone items include a custom belt buckle for completing 100 miles in 24 hours and a commemorative t-shirt for participants. To guarantee a t-shirt in a chosen size the registration deadline was April 1st; registrations after that date are subject to remaining sizes on a first come, first served basis.
