The Great Sandbagger 8K is scheduled for Saturday, August 1, 2026, at the McBaine Katy Trailhead, Mile Marker 169.5, McBaine, MO 65203. The event is an out and back road course certified as an 8K (MO21022MU). A course map is available for the route.
Before the start, each runner predicts a finishing time. Runners begin in staggered order based on those predictions so that predicted finishers are expected to arrive near the same time. The first person to cross the finish line is the race winner and may add an item to a three foot tall traveling trophy that is kept until the following year.
Registration is online only through RunSignUp. There is no race day or on site registration. Entry is free for Columbia Track Club members who register online; non members pay a listed entry fee of $10. Participants should arrive early on race day to submit their predicted finishing time.
