Event Details

The Flat Branch Ultra is a 50K running event. It takes place in Columbia, Missouri. The course is USATF-certified and follows rails-to-trails paths.

The Course

The race starts and finishes at Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Park. Runners head southwest on the MKT Trail for approximately 7.5 miles before connecting to the Katy Trail. The route is an out-and-back along these trails, passing the approximately 400-year-old Bur Oak tree. The turnaround point is near Rocheport.

Logistics

  • There are 125 participant spots available.
  • Packet pickup occurs on race day at the start/finish line beginning at 6:30 AM.
  • All competitors must sign a USATF waiver.
  • A cutoff requires runners to reach the halfway aid station by 12:00 PM.
  • Four aid stations are located along the course, including the start/finish line.
  • Drop bag service is provided to the halfway point.
  • Finisher awards and top three overall awards are given.
  • Post-race refreshments are available at the finish line.

History

Experience a historic trail run south of Columbia featuring single track paths and multiple creek crossings. Choose between distances ranging from 10 miles to a 50K ultramarathon or test your endurance in the 10 mile ruck.

The Great Sandbagger 8K features a unique race format based on predicted finish times. Runners start in staggered order, and the first to cross the line wins a traveling trophy. The certified 8K course starts at the McBaine Katy Trailhead.

Rock Bridge Revenge is a trail running event on October 17, 2026, at Rock Bridge State Park. It features 50K and 25K distances on single track trails with creek crossings. Chip timing, aid stations, and a post race lunch are provided.
